Every title is listened to end to end by one editor, on both headphones and a speaker, before a word of the review is written. We never score from a sample or a summary.
How we rate
Four scores out of ten, then an overall figure weighted towards voice and story.
Voice
Range, warmth, character work, and whether the narrator disappears into the book.
Pacing
Tempo across the whole runtime, including the sag most books hit around the midpoint.
Production
Mastering, edits, breath handling, music and ambience — and whether they serve the story.
Story
The book itself, judged as a listening experience rather than a page-turner.
