Juno Hale and Theo Brandt split the chapters, and the casting is the review. Hale is dry and quick; Brandt is slower, rougher, always a half-beat behind her — which is exactly the dynamic on the page.
The banter scenes are the highlight. Both narrators let silences sit rather than rushing the punchlines, and the late argument in the rain is genuinely uncomfortable to hear, in the best way.
A few interior monologues run long, and the epilogue is sweeter than the book earns. Still the most charming romance listen of the season.
